Rock Jesus, Johnny Marr has unleashed a brand new spanking rockin’ funky tune entitled Armatopia. Johnny has conjured up a far-out yummy Eco-Disco friendly single. In the musique video, he plays a karaoke singer in search of that authentic revelry and decadent magic nights he once always knew.
His past Smiths brother, Morrissey maybe in and out the musique scene as of late, Johnny has been bow and arrowing concept albums left and right for the better part of last year. Coming out with a record Call The Comet, an album we covered and enjoy very highly. Now he’s got another electric smasher on his pretty little rockin’ roll paws.“Armatopia,” is fast upbeat and dance floor ready groovy.
“Armatopia” feels like a synthpop vehicle perfect to party too. Sounding like a rainbow dash of LCD Soundsystem and Human League. A sprinkle of New Order, Arcade Fire and Pulp included. Marr’s goes on to describe the concept of the song saying: “The song is about the sense that the world is ending and that the only sane thing to do is party, to try and forget about it.”
Directed by artist Kris Rimmer, he continued the sentiment, divulging that the motif of this aesthetic is about a train of coming of age youths coming together in a speakeasy English apartment discovering enjoyment at the drop of a hat.
The director Kris Rimmer spilled to NME the following:
“Johnny and I wanted to work with the idea that even when the future of a person seems bleak and uncertain, they can still choose to pursue pleasure and self-indulgence. In this case, that hedonism is embodied in our four main characters. We chose the derelict tower block to contrast their eccentricities and followed them on a journey to “the last place on earth left open.” There seems to be something quite significant about finding romance in the last days of existence.”
Without further ado get into the Johnny Mar groove with his stellar stupendous ditty “Armatopia”!
