“ItsNotYouItsMe: Nightlife Is For The Babes” edition features Jessie J and her razzle-dazzle of an evening while galavanting around town. Her extraordinary excursion commenced with Pop icon Cyndi Lauper. Both songstresses joined with staffers from Jessie J’s music label, Republic Records had a surreal karaoke night at a joint known as Duet 53. Cyndi was Jessie’s surprise guest.
The gals churned out “I Will Survive” and Cynd’s infamous legendary classic, “Girls Just Want To Have Fun”. What was supposed to be just a gathering for the label, Jessie J ends up showing up with Cyndi Lauper. Now that’s our kinda surprise from a boss. Sources told outlets: “They performed the songs as a duet and it was tons of fun and laughter the whole night.”
Later reports say that the duo made their way to 72nd Street, where they sang at another joint. Ashford & Simpson’s Sugar Bar for Motown Wednesdays, saw a wonderland of vocals soaring as Jessie, Lauper and now the one and only, Ruth Pointer of the Pointer Sisters also joined the bar’s band onstage at its weekly open mic night. Guests luckily in attendance reported, “they were on fire.”
As far as what Jessie J to to say about thee whole extravaganza: “Tonight was the first time seeing [Cyndi] in 15 years … and we just reconnected. We went to a karaoke bar,” Jessie said while speaking to the crowd before she performed. “We sang … I can’t tell you the love and energy I get from New York. It is like no other place … Just the talent in this room is undeniable and I’ve lost my voice … My voice is tired, but I’ll give you everything I have.”
