Lizzo Files Trademark Applications For Her Flute. For NFTs, Toys, Clothing, Virtual Environments & More.
“Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and the metaverse continue to pique the curiosity of singer Lizzo. Following the submission of eight trademark applications to join the metaverse last March, the singer has now registered seven trademarks for the nickname she gave her flute.
Apart from being a talented singer, rapper, dancer, and songwriter, Lizzo is also a talented classical flutist. Her flute, nicknamed Sasha Flute, has even its own Instagram page with over 325,000 followers.
As part of her trademark applications, she sought to protect the nickname “Sasha Flute” for NFT and metaverse-related projects.
According to the applications, submitted to the USPTO on September 30, the singer plans to provide:
NFTs and NFT-backed media;
Virtual clothing;
NFT marketplaces for virtual goods;
Online virtual environments and retail stores for virtual goods.
The news was shared via Twitter by trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis.
Singers are delving deep into this new emerging realm, launching a variety of initiatives. Recently, Doja Cat partnered with JBL to launch fruit-themed NFT headphones. In July, Usher collaborated with Rémy Martin to launch a limited-edition bottle and NFT on BlockBar. Likewise, a few months ago, Madonna launched her own NFT collection, “Mother of Creation.”
