Kelis is practically the queen of everything in music. Celebrating 22 years strong in the industry. Kelis has built quite a reverent and vivrant career in the culinary arts as well.
However she’s back at doing what she was born to do. A new single, in seven years. Entitled, “Midnight Snacks”. Produced by fellow artist Fanatix. The new gift serves as a perfect fun ditty for the fall season. Hitting a delicious aesthetic in the form of a musique video. More specifically thrilling for Halloweenie time.
The new music video was directed by Adrienne Raquel. “Midnight Snacks” follows her sixth studio album, “Food,” which came out in 2014. Her cookbook “My Life on a Plate” was a passion project that shined brightly. The launched a cannabis-themed Netflix cooking show, Cooked With Cannabis.
Kelis said about thee tentative musical food project and the inspiration behind the songs. “I mean, obviously I do. It isn’t intentional, but the idea is just that food is a very carnal thing. Everyone can relate to it. It’s very human, it’s sensual, it’s something that you crave. And it’s sexy.” She than further expressed:
“I heard the beat, thought it was dope, and the first thing that came to mind was “Midnight Snacks.” The FaNaTix were like, what are you talking about? And I was like, it makes you feel like a midnight snack! And that was it. It’s funny to me, but I like the fact that you can take sex and food, and you can put these two things together, and they’re totally interchangeable. I love that.
