The dance music world has lost an important heartbeat, as it has been reported that 52 year old Philippe Zdar of French band/duo Cassius has died after an accidental fall from a Parisian building.
As one half of Cassius with Hubert Blanc-Francard aka Boom Bass, the duo reached dance-floors world wide when they formed in the late 90’s with their French House sounds, which also, formed a movement with influential French groups like AIR and Stardust/DaftPunk.
While creating their own sound, Cassius also produced for a slew of ItsNotYouItsMe favorite artist such as Phoenix, Franz Ferdinand, The Rapture, Cut Copy and The Beastie Boys. Their 2016 album Ibifornia was a feature album here at headquarters and the duo was tentatively set to release a new album entitled Dreems this coming Friday (6/21).
As this story is just breaking there is no word if the release of the final album will continue.

Awful news about Phillipe Zdar, what an unbelievably lovely man with an incredible legacy. I was mesmerized by this record as a 15 year old https://t.co/H79OZ19Nxq— Calvin Harris (@CalvinHarris) June 20, 2019
