If you could see my jotter, you would notice that I’ve been pretty bad at scribbling notes this time- and that’s not my custom, I’m a brutal scribbler! Only a word all alone in the middle of a candid space: D’oh! I admit that the Homeric catchphrase- not Homer the epic poet but Groening’s yellow dumbo- encloses what my flowing stream of thoughts was about during Dsquared2 show. I’ve been keeping tabs on the Caten twins for seasons and, except for few somewhat-significant outputs, D2 is like a porn, you know precisely what it is getting at! It’s about coherence, somebody would declare but, coherence is a thing, predictability is quite different. Denims- frayed and tie-dye- are undoubtedly a signature of Dean and Dan and, this time, are also the only noteworthy pieces of a collection that cannot accommodate any ambition. A much-abused black and white chessboard pattern, a really bad camo and and a delusional styling helped to create something aesthetically cheap and desultory. But, what did really strike me- and all the attendants I suppose- was the homage to the shocked gay community the Canadian pair paid at the end of the show when they walked down the runway sporting female cuissardes and rainbow ribbons.” – Fuckingyoung.es
