Netflix pays homage to one of thee pioneers and ultimate trendsetters in all of musique history Selena Quintanilla with a stellar scripted series!
“Almost one year after revealing that a series based on the life of Selena Quintanilla is in the works, Netflix officially unveiled a sneak peek at Selena: The Series on Tuesday morning (Nov. 12).
“Get your first look at Christian Serratos, who will play Selena Quintanilla in a coming of age story chronicling the iconic singer’s rise,” a tweet stated, adding that Selena: The Series’ first part will premiere in 2020.
Serratos is a California-based actress of Mexican-Italian descent best known for her roles as Rosita Espinosa in AMC’s The Walking Dead, Suzie Crabgrass in the Nickelodeon series Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide and Angela Weber in The Twilight Saga series.
In addition to Serratos’ taking the lead, Netflix confirmed that Ricardo Chavira will co-star as Selena’s father Abraham, Gabriel Chavarria as her brother A.B., Noemi Gonzalez as her sister Suzette, Seidy Lopez as her mother Marcella, and Madison Taylor Baez as young Selena.
On Dec. 11, 2018, the official Netflix U.S. news Twitter account revealed that the Quintanilla family, along with Jaime Dávila and Rico Martinez from Campanario Entertainment, Simran A. Singh, and Moisés Zamora, will executive produce the project.
